Around Our World in 80 Words (or less)
compiled by Ryan Farrell

Find out what is happening in our local churches from the leaders making it happen!

What's Happening At…

Yarmouth Wesleyan Church, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
“Things are moving ahead here at Yarmouth Wesleyan! We now have our new staff in place with Pastor Jon Cook and his wife Jessica as the Youth Pastor and Vicki Sears as our Children's Pastor. The team is excited, energized and having great successes already! We started the Fall season with a bang on September 7th with a full house, special music by Jessica Cook (Betts) & family, a party for our children's church and a barbecue served to all our families as they left church that morning. With several people coming to Christ in the past few weeks, baptisms and a renewed excitement in the air, we know that God is at work. There has been an increase in giving, small groups, Sunday School, youth and children and we are excited about the possibilities as the fall unfolds. Our Land Development task force is moving ahead on a Seniors' Complex on site with a ground breaking as early as next fall Lord willing! God has evidenced Himself in big ways over the past several months and we wait expectantly for more miracles ahead! Praise His Name!”
Senior Pastor: Jim Agrell

Note From the Editors: Thanks Jim! Things look real good in Yarmouth! Keep up the great work and I am sure we will continue to hear of more miracles God is doing in Yarmouth!

River Valley Wesleyan Church, Grand Bay, New Brunswick
“River Valley Wesleyan Church has been celebrating the return of Pastor Dave's second son, Joel, from his "far-off country wand'rings." His dramatic spiritual turnaround has encouraged everyone. Recently Joel was interviewed on national and local (Saint John) CBC Radio. You can contact Pastor Dave at pdave@nbnet.nb.ca if you would like to hear these interviews. They are available on the internet if you have the Real Player installed on your computer. Email him and he will send you the URL. We are praising the Lord for His great mercy to Joel.”
Senior Pastor: Dave McElhinney

Note From the Editors: Dave, we rejoice with you and your family, PTL! Thank you for this encouraging word and link!

First Wesleyan Church, Fredericton, New Brunswick

  • Sunday Evening Sensation - Beginning a new Sunday evening service concurrent with the present service. This will be a contemporary worship service with break out groups, Alpha being one option.
  • All-Tithe Sunday - last Sunday of October. People filled out fake checks indicating how much they would give in an offering that day. We are wanting to take the largest "regular" offering that we have ever taken as a "faith-enlarging" experience.
  • Prayer Can - When nothing else makes a difference "prayer can". We had an artist paint a large milk can and we place it on the platform. People come forward during the prayer time, place their requests (from cards in the pews) in the can.
  • The "Prayer Force" - almost 50 strong now - prays for each request out loud in the midweek prayer service. This is an extremely exciting time.
  • Parking Lot is paved.
  • Music Ministry is strong under the Lapointe's direction - almost 50 in the choir.
  • We are subscribed to the Christian Communications Network and will be hosting various satellite events this year.
  • Healing Service - 1st Sunday of November in the AM service.
  • We will be feeding the marginalized folk of Fredericton a top notch dinner in our gymnasium on Christmas Day.

Senior Pastor: Karl Ingersoll

Note From the Editors: Karl, we’ll excuse the 80 word over run because of your excitement! Great stuff going on, wow! We look forward to hearing more from this great church!
