The Passion is the Fashion |
|
There is no denying the impact Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ has had these past few weeks. The film which was predicted to play only to a few faithful, a handful of theatres, and maybe straight to video is breaking records and changing hearts! Reports on the news have ranged anywhere from outrage, to tears, to shock, and all out praise. One report I heard on the radio Friday was that of a man who confessed to a murder that the authorities had ruled a suicide after being so moved to do so from watching the movie. Wow! But nothing impresses me more than the response of the people in my church and community. This past week, a young lady who has been so cold to the Gospel went to see The Passion on Saturday, she was moved to tears and made a commitment on Sunday! People around town who never go to church are going to see and want to discuss the movie. Small groups and classes are preoccupied with discussion of what people thought and how they were moved! There is no question The Passion is the fashion!
We here at the King’s eHighway want to know what your response has been, is, and
will be to The Passion of the Christ. What was your church response? Did
you go as a church? Did you promote it? Will you go? How might this movie be
used by you in the future? Did you or do you have difficulty promoting the movie
due the historical taboo with “Movie Going” in our Holiness Tradition? What has
been the reaction by your people and community? Have you seen any visible signs
of this movie drawing people closer to Christ? Please sum up your response in a
few hundred words and forward it to Brock Symonds at
bmsymonds@yahoo.com.
