Have you read this... The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren? I enjoy reading. In fact I am always on the look out for new and interesting books to challenge myself with. So when several pastor friends recommended "The Purpose Driven Life" to me, I had to pick it up and check it out. I quickly discovered that it was intended to be a 40 day devotional. Quoting from Rick Warren; "I strongly urge you to read only one chapter a day, so you will have time to think about the implications for your life." I soon realized that this book would require discipline and commitment. The book has been broken up into six sections:
As I read this book I found at times it very easy to pick it up and read my daily selection. While at other times it seemed like the weight of the world was against me. I persevered. Each day I read each chapter thoroughly not wanting to skim or skip anything. Sometimes the day's topic was something I was already familiar with. At other times new thoughts emerged from familiar passages of Scripture. At this point I would like to applaud the author for his use of many different scripture verses. This has definitely put the importance of God's Word into perspective. As the final days of my reading approached I found myself not wanting the book to end. Over the 40 days I had found the author's writing to be straightforward, to the point and urgent. At least for me I felt his writing was urgent. Urging others to pass along the message of Christ. Not to store it up but to live it to the fullest each and every day. If you have read this book let me know what you thought of it.
